In Hong Kong they had a Regional Centre with the purpose of sharing with the 17 national Bible Societies of the Asia Pacific Region. The group in Hong Kong consisted of a number of specialized consultants in the fields of Translation, Management, and Marketing. Over the course of the 11 year period the Marketing Consultants instituted seminars and made regular personal visits to the Societies with the objective of:

  • Building strong locally based societies who would
  • Relate to the Churches and missions of that country in order to:
  • Effectively communicate the message of the Scriptures to their peoples
The challenges posed were:
  • An initial over dependence of outside funding and program ideas
  • Weak management and personnel policies
  • Inadequate production, pricing and distribution methods

Through a series of seminars for national distribution officers regular visits and mentoring it was possible to realize many of these goals. By the end of  1 year period the transition from dependence to national identity and effectiveness had been established so that following my departure no new Marketing Consultant was appointed.
